Name that Tune - The Results!
It's been a close-fought contest, but the results are finally in for the Name that Tune pub quiz from last week.

Before I move onto opening the shiny envelopes, I'd just like to thank everyone for taking part; and especially all you lovely, lovely people who knew the answer to Number 8. I got so much stick for using a longer clip of that in a work quiz because "no-one's ever heard of it." Thank-you for proving them wrong.

And now *fanfare* on to the winners.

Sharing joint third place are jinx1419 and bobsworld with a very respectable 14 points each.

Second place on the podium is also looking a little crowded as gashinryu and eyekiller both clocked up 16 points.

First place on the podium however is a place of splendid isolation as one person came out head and shoulders above the rest. They did so well I started to get paranoid that they'd nicked my CD collection, but it was all still there when I checked. Ladies, gentlemen and LJers this has been my first quiz where anyone scored full marks. I'd like a big, musical round of applause for pookee who scored a maximum 20 twenty points!! Congratulations!!

The Answers:
Intro 1: The Four Tops - Reach Out, I'll be there
Intro 2: Diana Ross - Upside Down
Intro 3: Arcade Fire - Keep the car running
Intro 4: Amii Stewart - Knock on wood
Intro 5: Cockney Rebel - Make me smile (Come up & see me) (Or Steve Harley & )
Intro 6: Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes
Intro 7: DeBarge - Rhythm of the Night
Intro 8: Martha & the Muffins - Echo Beach
Intro 9: The Kings of Leon - Molly's Chamber
Intro 10:KC & the Sunshine Band - That's the way I like it

Well done everyone.

Current Mood: artistic yay!

I would have got 16, just the modern songs I've never heard.

I have to 'fess up to adding in the modern stuff to confuse everyone.

You're a bad person.

Congrats to Pookee. I might have just about made the leader board if I hadn't confuse my upside downs with insides out. Good bit of fun though. Look forward to the next :)

Ta baggy! And there will be a next one, I promise. I've got the intro clips all ready to go. But I might look at a different type of quiz first.

Crikey!

I have to admit here and now that two of those were utter flukes, and there'd have been a three-way tie for 1st place if not for them. I recognised Intro 9 because it's the only song I have by that group on my iTunes, and if the mighty Foos hadn't done a (frankly fantastic) cover version of Intro 3, I wouldn't have known that one either. You should've seen me pacing the floor and grimacing for hours trying to remember the original group, though.

Thanks for a fantastic quiz, Shezza. I was beginning to wonder if it was *you* who'd stolen *my" music collection!

ps. Anyone who doesn't know song 8 doesn't know music. And you can tell 'em that from me!

Pacing, grimacing and earworming? - she asked hopefully.

Maybe next time you could do them on the kazoo with desk-drumming accompaniment

Did you ever see my MIDI music quiz of long ago? It was nearly as evil as that.

I'm quite surprised you've not heard the Foos version. It's ace.
eyekiller From: eyekiller Date: November 11th, 2008 10:13 am (UTC) (Link)
I might have but I don't know the names of any songs!
pookee From: pookee Date: November 11th, 2008 04:03 pm (UTC) (Link)
I've posted a link to the Foos version on my LJ now - you might recognise it when you hear it.

also:

1) where have the people who haven't heard Echo Beach been hiding

2) your record collection? This is an admission to owning Debarge, you know. Even *I* don't own that.

1) Oirland. My friends and I used to sing Echo Beach into our hairbrushes.

2) I have a 60s compliation CD, a 70s compilation CD, an 80s compilation CD and a 90s compilation CD. They were all bought for theme parties. Yer honour.

My friends and I used to sing Echo Beach into our hairbrushes.

I used to mime the keyboard part on my Bontempi organ, whilst singing along.
